American National Standards Institute

Integration in the International Standards Network

On the international level, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Regionally, the ANSI belongs to the Standard Pacific Congress (PASC) and the Pan-American Standards Commission (COPANT).

Classification of Standards

The U.S. standards used by Puerto Rico are called the American National Standards (ANS).
